Social Networking

In today's class meeting, we were introduced to 3 social networks. The networks were "Twitter, Ning, and StumbleUpon.com". We are asked to give our opinion about these networks based on what we observed after registering to each site. Of all 3, I prefer to use Ning. Twitter seems like in a couple months or even weeks it could resemble the world reknown facebook website that many know of. "Stumble Upon" seems like it's used more for entertainment purposes or to simply get feedback on your own personal opinions. Stumble Upon and Twitter provide access for an individual to voice their opinion in some way or another. I would implement Ning into my classroom faster than I would Twitter or Stumble Upon. Ning seems a bit more elementary friendly and a little less commercial. I can picture parents not consenting to their child having school Twitter accounts rather than them not consenting to Ning, after providing an explanation of the site. I feel the same about Stumble Upon. This website seems like it would have to be preassesed by a teacher. I came across some language that wouldn't be appropriate for most children.
