Continued Networking
Today we were asked to express our opinions about the Social Websites: Facebook and Linked In. I am very familiar with Facebook. I have used for over 4 years now. It's interesting to me that I've always thought of Facebook as a site used for personal reasons. It was brought to my attention in class today that it can be used for instructional use also. You can allow students to comment on lessons taught or overall expression of how they enjoy or view learning. Many restrictions and monitoring would have to be done if using this site to communicate with students. Contrarily, I like the fact that Linked In isn't as liberal as Facebook. You can create a profile for a certain purpose and that sets a major distinction from Facebook. Therefore I would use Linked for my own personal use. I don't see how Linked in could be used for instructional purposes.
